Being a prominent landmark in the area, the Red Covered Bridge is located 1 1/2 miles north of Princeton, IL on Rt. 26 and is one of the few remaining covered bridges left in Illinois today. It was built in 1863 and is still open to traffic.

Spring Valley was founded in 1884 in the heart of the coal fields of Northern Illinois primarily for the purpose of mining coal. By 1888, the booming town of Spring Valley already had over 3,000 people and was referred to as the “Magic City”.
Just 65ft above the Illinois River lies the LaSalle Rail Bridge, originally built by Illinois Central Railroad in 1855. Nearby on Interstate 39 is the longest bridge in Illinois, The Abraham Lincoln Memorial Bridge.
